Healing Power of True Friendship

Do you have a few true friends or a hundred over "so called friends" that you don't even remember their names or faces?

I know some of you reading this have friends like that, perhaps in Facebook or some social networking sites. Perhaps some of you might have been hurt by the friends you trusted and now you're very cautious of befriending anyone. Some might be keeping their friends at arm's length. Friendship like any relationship has its ups and downs, doesn't it?
Well, what prompted me to write this article and a series of posts on friendship which is ongoing in my other blog is the fact that social scientists have been conducting research in the last six years on the effects of friendship in disease and mortality rates and this is a blog of empowering health.  To find out some of the startling results of these studies, please click on the link below.
http://transformyourlife1.blogspot.com/2011/02/friendship-life-or-death-choice-part-i.html

There is an ongoing study going on now using friends in Facebook. Definitely, as a society, we have found new ways of befriending people all over the world and without even meeting them in person. Has the website contributed to increasing our friends but how has it impacted on the quality of friendships? Is it possible to foster quality friendships or genuine friendships in cyberspace? How do we treat friendship that we made at school, college, workplace, recreational spots and places of worship? Have we maintain contact with these friends? The most important question of all - how many trusted friends (friends that you could count on, if you had a challenging episode in life) do you have?

Your Request to your Higher Self? - Step 4 & 5

Are  you seated? Good - Now take your large sheet of paper or exercise book and write this formula
   Dear Higher Self,
I ask forgiveness for...........................................(specify one behavior or faulty belief or faulty thought which trouble you and for which you are seeking forgiveness.) (Dr. Guy Pettitt)
The above formula will be repeated for each behavior or belief, ah.... you were trying to squeeze 3 or 4 in one line - no need for that - use several sheets of paper as necessary.Leave several blank spaces between each item you're asking forgiveness for.

Oh are you having trouble seeing the less obvious areas for self-forgiveness.. These posts do not allow me to elaborate in detail as I would if I was coaching or guiding you individually or if you were in a small unbiased group setting. The less obvious might be - 1.overachieving, overambitious, (& the opposites),2. spending more money on your material possessions than on your own self-improvement, 3. putting expectations on others, 4. believing others as untrustworthy because of a past experience of others betraying your trust....etc.... REMEMBER ask and answer the questions, Compassionately, Joyfully and Completely. If this section is not done thoroughly, the forgiveness will be only partial..... so check, recheck, and recheck.

Take several days to do this as each day might bring something you forgot the day before. Recheck this big offenders. 1.Did I criticize myself and /or others? 2.Did I sabotage myself and/or others? 3.Did I addict myself and/or others? 4. Did I confuse myself and/or others?5. Did I play the clown to avoid important issues?6. Did I play the Helpless Victim, reluctant Martyr or resentful helper? 7. Did I depress myself for doing any of the above?

Step 5 is where you left the blank space. Return to each item to be forgiven and chose a wise preference with this formula. Do not use vague or negative words. When finished writing, say them loudly.

" As I look back, I realize I would have preferred to have.......(believe) or (thought) or (said) or (acted) Choose the one that applies. Here is an example.
.....I would have preferred to believe that I was a worthwhile person. ( instead of being so self-critical of my background.)
Please do this exercise sitting down - I will tell you why in the next post, where we will talk about the sixth step which concludes the Early Phase of Forgiveness! If you're still with me, please let me know! I would like to know how many are following these posts, otherwise the middle and very important part of the forgiveness process will be postponed indefinitely. So a line or two is crucial to the survival of this blog.

Steps of the Self-Forgiveness Ladder -2

So far it has been relatively comfortable - right? Oh Oh, you're looking apprehensive, waiting for me to say, something like difficult or painful right??  Well, it is not. Did I not mention in Part 4 last week, that the Forgiveness Process is comfortable, compassionate and joyful , if you're doing it right? Now how did you do on your homework on Values.

Well, why don't we do some housecleaning now - no need for a vacuum...... I meant mental housecleaning. That is what Step 2 is about. There are 2 parts. On a whole page draw two vertical columns. On the first, rank the values that you've written, from the most important to the least, leaving a few lines of space between each value. On the second column for each value, you will write a value statement. Here are some examples and each statement should have the words that are capitalized.
Values (Core at the top)                                   Value Statement
     Dignity                                                     I VALUE feeling
                                                                     dignified MORE THAN
feeling worthless,     Freedom                                                  I VALUE freedom
                                                                     MORE THAN  feeling a
                                                                     prisoner in
                                                                     my own negativity.

After you have written ALL the Value Statements, then read them aloud as many times as you wish and let them sink in. Running out of writing material. I did warn you that you will need full standard size exercise books.       Again use 2 columns and mention all the benefits and burdens.
Part 2 of Step 2
Benefits of Forgiving Myself
Example
Benefits of Forgiving myself
When I forgive myself of holding
on to  resentment, my head is clear, I digest my food better.
Burdens of not forgiving Myself
When I hold on to unforgiveness, my headaches do not go away, I have problems with digestion.

If this not self-explanatory, then write to me. List all the benefits and burdens, no matter how insignificant they may seem. Then read them aloud, weighing  the benefits against the burdens. Take all the time you need to reflect on your Value Statements, the benefits and the burdens. As you read the Benefits and Burdens aloud, check your body's reaction. Do you feel your body relax when you read the Benefits? Is the body tensing when you read the Burdens. Which part of the body is reacting more than the others? Jot them down.

I want to thank the three participants of the small forgiveness group. They will be able to share and support each other confidentially, in this Process . Since I'm involved in this small group, my descriptions of these Steps will be minimal. I will still be available to answer your questions or comments and will incorporate it into my posts. Check my posts each week, either on Thursday or Friday.
Joyfully,
P Nicholas

Facts on Forgiveness Part 4 of 4

My foray into Energy  Medicine and EFT  introduced me to new avenues in healing and personal development and forgiveness permeated these modalities in a quiet way but its impact on Healing was certainly felt.    In Donna Eden's Energy Medicine, there is a  procedure to send 'Forgiveness through your Body; another is 'Expelling the venom'. In EFT, each day  or each week, you could do what Gary Craig called the Palace of Possibilities.

So when I noticed Guy Pettitt's work on the Forgiveness Process, I had to try it out by myself although he recommends to do it with a coach or have a small group doing the process together.  Some of the Steps are very much like Craig's Palace of Possiblity! Let me say it was challenging doing it on my own, which is why the small groups have become popular in New Zealand and other countries.

First, I had to get a standard size  lined book! Hmmm! What are you waiting for? We can't begin, till you get the writing material and a pen. I'll wait!
Let's begin with Self -Forgiveness first! Why? Any ideas? Before we begin, let me Emphasize - all these Steps have to be done comfortably, compassionately, joyfully and completely.

In response to a question from Nathan, it is not difficult and there are ways to have bio-feedback to know if it worked. For those interested to work on these Steps in a small online group, please let me know. Actually, it would be good to know who are following these Steps through these posts. Anyone? The Comments section will be where I answer questions and elaborate.

This will not work, if you skip some Steps. The best way - do the Steps in Sequence and take all the time you need to finish each one. My plan is to do one Step each week and give you the opportunity to prepare for the next week. When you go on a journey, you have a choice to make it fun or boring, right? So before we begin, let's Will to make it fun, agreed?

The first Step
On the first page, you will write the Definition of the Forgiveness Process. This is  the one for Self-Forgiveness!
The Forgiveness process is cancelling the conditions in oneself, that are blocking the flow of love, independently of the behaviour of anyone else or any outer circumstances.  It is an energy dynamic!
                                                                                           (Dr. Guy Pettitt)

Now read that aloud. In all the following steps, we will be using both the right side and left side of our brain.

Prep for the Second Step
Think of all your Values (cherish or prize are other words)  including what you've inherited. Have some of your values changed? Write done each value (leaving plenty of space between each) and underline those you feel are your core values that have not and will not change. As you write each Value and read it, notice any sensations in any part of your body, example - heart beats faster, specific muscles tighten or relax, etc. Write all the values you've held.

So till next week! One reader has decided to join the small forgiveness process group online. There is space for 1 or 2  more. So please contact me via comment, as we will be commencing next week. This will be a private and confidential group. Remember as you're doing this, this process is similar to taking the automobile in for an oil change. It is needed and not difficult, so that the auto will run optimally. Only this time, the automobile is you.

Facts on Forgiveness Part 3 of 4

I am delighted that a couple of my readers have  requested the Steps of the Forgiveness Process. So next week, Part 4 will start on some of the Steps.

Now to answer a question of another reader, who shared an excerpt of a  book she read on Forgiveness where the author stated that you don't have to know how to forgive to forgive. Maybe so. It begs the question, why then are so many people telling me that they thought they've forgiven but months or  years later, there remained residues of resentment, irritation or hurt at the person they had 'forgiven'?
Dr. G. Pettitt has the answer - the forgiveness was not complete as they did not follow certain steps that would make it so. Are you shaking your head dubiously??
.
If you have a leaking faucet and you put strong tape on it,  for a short while the faucet will stop leaking but then, the amount of water collected will cause a pressure to bust the tape and the waters would gush out causing a mini-flood.  So that is how it is when the Steps of the Forgiveness Process is not followed.

Many times, when we think we've forgiven, we have just repressed the memory. While treating some physical ailment in Energy Medicine and EFT, I noticed how the lack of forgiveness was a prominent culprit. When a client during the sessions, acknowledge the forgiveness aspect, that physical ailment heals. You must have heard about the connection of gastric ulcers and anger. When we use emotional freedom technique taught by Gary Craig, we always acknowledge the negative feeling but we do not stop there. Let me give you an example.

A client with severe pain came in, barely able to walk, doubled up in pain.. After a very brief history and discovering that her predominant emotions were shame and anger, I started  initially with siphoning the pain, then tapping her meridian points with her saying  "Even though I am angry with my ??? for humiliating me in front of my friends, I profoundly accept, respect and love  & (forgive)  myself anyway."
You might ask why she was saying "forgive myself'  Great question - Any feed backs. Before you  can truly forgive others, you have to learn to forgive yourself, using a similar process.
The end result for this particular client - She walked out of the therapy which lasted for about an hour with zero pain. She saw me as a last resort as she had tried everything else, from tests, other therapies to medications.

So next post - will mention some of the Steps in the Forgiveness Process - Have you any ideas of what they may be??

Facts on Forgiveness Part 2 of 4

One reader mentioned that my posts have a tendency to be like a textbook. So I've tried to veer from that style. Let me know if I have succeeded.  To recap last week's facts on the Forgiveness Process. They are -
1.Empowering
2. It is a free Choice.
3. It Strengthens your Will.
4. It is private and internal
5. It makes you wise.
6. It makes you stronger to be able to confront injustices.
Now although I will be adding a few more, that does not mean that is all. As you work through the Forgiveness Process, you will most probably discover more facts.
Forgiveness
7.improves the atmosphere.
2. it can be telepatic
3. it is a basic need
4. it is a joy and celebration
and another good news fact -
5.Forgiveness HAS DEFINITE STEPS. That is why it can be taught and learned.
If you would like to know some of the STEPS, please send your requests in soon! Till the next post which will either continue with the facts or if you respond, I will share with you some of the Steps of the Forgiveness Process. It's your choice!!

"You are a Latticework of energy "

The above, a quote from Donna Eden who wrote Energy Medicine and she is referring to each one of us, without any exceptions. Really no need for channeling, is there?.
Tonight, I heard an interview with Donna Eden, my guru of Energy Medicine, not just practicing and writing about it, she also has made it her crusade to teach and demonstrate energy medicine to the masses.Energy works without you willing it or thinking about it but stressors in your life play a crucial part in the energy system of your body. Remember we are working with two main energies, positive or negative which is also lack of!

Look at your hand. It is electromagnetic and that is why you sometimes feel the energy running through your system, as if you had touched a live socket. It's is referred to as static shock.
Are you able to read the energy in yourself and others? You should and again this needs some practice.
We can feel our energies and those of others. Have you heard this expression, " I had a gut feeling this would happen." Intuition, which many of us have abandoned to our detriment. Intuition, when fine tuned can be a useful tool to read our energies.

Some people are able to see energies that circulate in and out of the body with spirals and weaves. Have you noticed how a baby when held, looks around the person. That baby sees the energies, so does the child but the teens and adult do not see it. Why? We let that skill lie dormant as it was not what the adults were talking about or perhaps the child was told frequently, it was the imagination or a dream etc.

An experiment conducted by Donna had a group of parents in a small town, talk about energies to their babies and children ; years later, when these were teenagers, they were still able to see the energies around different people. There are so many examples which I might mention in future posts, if you request it.( onc involved a surgeon in a busy hospital) *1

In March I had a 7 day challenge on this blog in which several bloggers took part. I gave them the exercises below. Please visit the posts and read their revealing comments. There were three posts and you could find it under Energy Medicine - 7 day challenge.

1. Be thankful for what you DO have! You have a roof over your head. You do have some good health, a good bed to sleep on, Your intelligence! What about family and friends?
I find it good to give thanks in the morning when I awake.

2. Make a funny face in front of the washroom mirror and laugh for about 5 minutes, while doing your bathroom routine, after that, take 3 long slow deep breaths. You could continue laughing while you're doing your bathroom routine. Caution - don't laugh while shaving, guys! You can smile.

3.Cut back your intake of negative news from newspapers, radio, television or the Internet. You are protesting,"I want to be current on the news". You will not miss much - "Bad" news travel fast". Put on some lively or soothing music according to your preferences.

4. Look for the good news! They travel slowly. Also look for the good things you see around you on the street, at work and at home and smile. Spend at least one hour quality time with yourself or your family. Accentuate the positive.

5. Find positive things to say at work or home. Tactfully change the subject if negative ones crop up in your conversations and discussions. Accentuate the Positive.

6. Watch comedies or funny shows on TV or at the movies! Invest in a book of jokes.
Read a couple of pages a day. Cut out "Funny Pictures or Cartoons"
Stick them on areas like your work station, fridge, TV, to remind you to smile.
Brisk exercise for 20 minutes or laughing exercises for 20 minutes.
Laughing for 20 minutes including belly laughs is equivalent to an hour's jog.

7. In the evening, give thanks for your day and look forward to the next one

In the next post, I will give you some of the ways of boosting your Energy System, which in turn will boost your immune system and general health. Anyone interested in doing another 7 day challenge, please let me know in the comment section.

I'll leave the last word to Donna as she stated in this evening's interview about Energy Medicine. An eye opening statement don't you think during this time of all the flu viruses floating around??.

" It turns around Vulnerability to Strength!" (Donna Eden)

EFT 6

If you read the two previous posts, you have seen the result of EFT. So is EFT an empowering tool?

Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, mentioned several times in his writings to try EFT on anything, which is what I did. My primary goal was to clear a painful relationship memory. It never occurred to me that the result would be a novel. Yet I did write this novel BEYOND THE SINGAPORE SKY in so short a time. That was the exciting bonus.

Did I achieve the primary goal? Yes, that painful relationship memory is not painful anymore. So I do believe EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique is also an empowering tool?

EFT - 5

As I mentioned at the start of this series, my EFT experience is still at a beginner's level and I have incorporated it into my practice as the results have been impressive, faster, when I have tapped on my clients than when I have tapped on my own issues. I believe it is easier to be objective when one is working on another person's emotions.

Recently, a client came to see me on some anger issues with her spouse. First, I asked her on a scale of 1 - 10 ( ten being the most intense) where her emotion of anger was. She replied 10.She did not appear comfortable to tell me the incident or event that made her livid. I told her it was not necessary to tell me, but that when I was doing the tapping and saying the phrases, she had to bring the incident to her mind. So we worked with the tapping and the phrasing of the anger in words and deep breathing between rounds. After 15 minutes, I asked her where her anger level was and she said - 4. Before we continued with another set of tapping rounds, I asked her if she wanted to change the phrases, I was using and she decided that my phrasing was exactly what she would use but I gave her the freedom to jump in with a change of phrasing, during the rounds. She also decided to do the tapping on herself instead of me doing the tapping.

Then after another 5 minutes, I asked her to gauge her anger level. She said it was two and found that acceptable and her whole body including face and voice looked peaceful. However, I told her that with a couple more rounds of EFT we could bring it lower. So we did another 5 minutes and then she looked at me surprised - " I don't feel any anger toward him anymore - it is O.

To test this, I asked her to think of the whole incident to bring up the anger. She did but she could not feel anger. We worked on some unrelated issues and an hour later, I asked her to bring up the incident that made her angry. She did but could not feel anger about it.

More about EFT can be found on the founder Gary Craig's website. www.emofree.com

EFT-4

"With people that suffer from mental illnesses, if you remove one aspect of thinking, it will need to be replaced by another,"

What is the DOWNSIDE of getting rid of a physical or mental problem, or an addiction or a negative emotion??

No I haven't lost it? Yes for some people there is a Downside, which is why a therapy does not appear to work on certain individuals! It is a crucial question that practitioners of Energy Medicine or any other therapies, have to ask their clients? And for clients to ask themselves? Is there a downside to having a healthy weight or quitting cigarettes or alcohol or even to re-gain one's mobility or to overcome one's chronic pain?

For the issue of smoking, excess alcohol and food intake, there are social repercussions. Example, if they quit smoking, then they no longer feel welcomed in that cozy social group of smokers and if that group was their main social group of friend, then how are they going to find a new group or could they even find a new group - Perceived Companionship, Safety and security loss could be the motivator for holding on to an illness or an addiction?

In EFT, the term core issue is used. Once this core issue is released, then one will make progress with resolution of the illness or addiction. I knew of someone, who stated she wanted arthritic pain relief but after some muscle testing, she was found strong on not wanting to get rid of it. Puzzling, so I investigated - It was discovered that being pain-free, would alienate her from a pain support group which was her only form of socializing. She also felt her children called her regularly to inquire about her condition. She remembered a few years ago, without arthritic pain - she only heard from them twice a year!
The following was taken from Gary Craig's newsletter of how a physician assistant used EFT in the clinic to help two patients in mental distress.

Emotional Freedom Technique -EFT - 1

Emotional Freedom Technique
Have you heard of this? If this is the first time, then you might be among the very few left on this planet, hearing it for the first time!
EFT - or Emotional Freedom Technique is the buzz word these days. Just recently, there was an a week of audio symposium on a world summit of EFT with some of the "Masters" of this therapy, giving their presentations, based on their research, experience and practice.
Although Emotional Freedom Technique is categorized as Energy Psychology, it is part of Energy Medicine, too.

I have had some experience with EFT, but before I share them with you, I would invite anyone who experienced EFT or are using them in their practice to comment on their experiences, views and opinions. How many times do you have someone asking for your opinion? My topic for the next several posts will be on EFT?

Energy Healing -first anniversary

It is my one year anniversary as I started this blog last May!
Does time fly in this Recession? No? Businesses seem to slow down, lay-offs seem to make the time long? Do you have any control? Can you make any changes? If you said No to the last two questions, then read on....

I am no different from many of you as I am on a limited income and my business income is variable. The difference perhaps from some of you is this - I had made some CHOICES deliberately, learning from and using my Energy Medicine tools on myself. Here are 5 of them.

1. Instead of worrying, use the Time with my Energy Medicine Therapy/exercise x2 or x3 daily.
example - laughter therapy, 5 minute Energy Exercises,EFT.

2. Writing posts on my blog to share ways of being Empowered instead of being powerless. Believe me, there were many times I had to force myself to write.

3. Doing EFT tapping which caused the flow of creative juices, resulting in writing a book. Hope to have it published by June 2009

4.Changing negative thoughts and words to the Positive.

5.Last but not least daily meditation and thanksgiving.

In these days of Recession and Lack, focus of What you Do Have, no matter how small they seem and do not resent others for what they have. Why? Resenting others for their financial gains Will backfire on you. If you want money, don't resent or be envious of others who have it. So if you want time to fly in this recession, perhaps you could try the 5 suggestions given above. They have made time fly for me.

Energy Medicine - A Misnomer 2?

A comment I received from my last post was from a drug company, stating that Energy Medicine is more a Self-Help and not Medicine? This comment is very predictable coming from a drug company.

Many of you have heard of Acupuncture, have you not? It is practised worldwide and accepted in mainstream medicine, so none would argue that it is not medicine. Acupuncture was practised first in China. For many years, it was under the category of Chinese Medicine. Now even western trained physicians perform acupuncture. Did you know it is a form of Energy Medicine?
The systems that acupuncture works on is the same ones that Energy Medicine uses albeit without the needles.

Energy Medicine is not a misnomer but it is Medicine that does not create dependence or co-dependence that is a regular feature of many drugs in the market today!

Energy Medicine - A Misnomer?

Someone mentioned recently that she had misgivings about anything with the name "Medicine" Medicine as we all know is a substance that is used to heal or prevent disease.

Why the name Energy Medicine? Is it a Misnomer? As far as my research has taken me in the domain of Energy Medicine, one does not have to take anything by mouth. There are no pills or syrups or even supplements promoted. It is encouraged in Energy Medicine to eat sensibly.

Energy Medicine is in the category of Alternative and Complementary Medicine but unlike some alternative medicine where certain nutritional supplements or herbs are emphasized, it is not so with Energy Medicine. So what is the Medicine part?
According to Donna Eden, Energy is the medicine. She adds that your body's energies are able to mobilize and respond to illness. In energy medicine, troubled energies are the Patient. To re-pattern these troubled energies is the Solution of Energy Medicine.

Energy Medicine

When you think of Medicine, thoughts of pills, liquids, syrups, needles all come to your mind doesn't it? Well Energy Medicine has none of those. These past couple of weeks, I have been so immersed with the further study and practice of Energy Medicine, that time flew, so my blog writing was shelved for a while.

If you missed it, let me know. If If I don't hear from anyone, then my blogging will be reduced to once a month. This blog was created to help and guide people who needed knowledge, views on natural healing especially energy medicine, energy foods, etc. It involved much of my time to research and write these articles. Feedback has been scanty, even though I know, many do visit my site because of my tracker tool.

If I feel there are readers out there who want to know about what energy medicine and natural medicine is all about and give me suggestions or recommendations, I might go back to once a week postings. For now, I am teaching, as well as doing energy medicine therapies that I find very time consuming. My goal is to teach as many people as I possibly can how to have an healthy immune system and lifestyle. I DO not sell any herbal medications, drinks or capsules, although herbal health companies have approached me. There is a reason for this!

So it is up to you my readers to ask, if you want more? As for now, my postings will be once a month.

Energy:-Are all fruits and vegetables Healing to everyone?

It has been wonderful to explore the healing energy of fruits and vegetables? We were only covering a small piece of the wide array of nature's healing food. However, before you run to the Farmer's Market and fill your basket with the rainbow hue of fruits and vegetables, just read on.

Our body chemistry react differently to foods, including fruits and vegetables. Yes, some people do not digest certain fruits or vegetables and might even get an adverse reaction from them. One example is Bananas - some have allergies to this fruit. Some people who were born in temperate climates have allergies to tropical fruits like mango.

Another barrier to assimilate fruits and greens are certain diseases like Gastrointestinal, Crohns Disease, Kidney Disease and Diabetes. Perhaps seeing your MD if you have these conditions would be appropriate.
So always get a referral to a nutritionist or see a Natural Practitioner specializing in allergies. Energy testing of foods also is very helpful.

Another very important consideration is to wash the fruits and vegetables thoroughly especially if you are eating them raw. Whenever possible, try to obtain organically grown produce. If the vegetables or fruits, have turned color or look wilted, it will not give you the healing energies. In that situation, it is better to get a frozen variety of the vegetable or berry as these are frozen at their freshest.

Canned vegetables are loaded with salt and canned fruits are loaded with sugar, so they are very poor alternatives. Proper packaging and storage is important to ensure freshness. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, do send it along.

Energy:- Why These Veggies are Important to Your Health?

The Beet Salad

While researching, I found so many vegetables that go beyond providing vitamins and roughage for our bodies. These vegetables actually have healing properties. Vegetables unlike fruits, do not quickly turn to simple sugars. They are complex carbohydrates, which means the body expends energy to digest them. Since I am not writing a book but an article, I have only taken some of the more popular vegetables, not only from the West but also from the East.

Cruciferous vegetables like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, bak choy all have a compound that removes aggressive estrogens in the body. The significance is that studies have shown that aggressive estrogens causes cancer, especially, breast, prostate, colon and lung cancers. Some studies have shown that these veggies strengthen your immune system.

Beets are excellent for anaemia, constipation and reducing obesity. Cucumbers decreases blood pressure, skin conditions and emphysema. Celery, too reduces blood pressure. However , it is not recommended eating celery before or right after vigorous exercises.

Chili peppers helps dissolve blood clots, open sinuses, acts as a decongestant and expectorant. It also speeds up metabolism which burns up calories. Chili peppers contains capsicum which is used as a topical drug to relieve pain.
Pumpkin has properties to prevent heart attack and cataracts.
Bitter Melon or Bitter Gourd

Bitter Melon or Bitter Gourd was long known in Asia for decreasing blood sugars and insulin levels, especially for people with Diabetes Type 2
Okra or Ladies Fingers, Gumbo (US), (Bendi in Malay) is another vegetable that stabilized blood sugars. Okra’s mucilage binds cholesterol and bilious acids, carrying the toxins and giving it easy passage out of the body. It acts like psyllium and flax but is much easier to swallow. Have you tried any of the gumbo dishes, like chicken or shrimp gumbo , they are delicious.

In South East Asia, mushrooms are considered a heart medication. Dried matake or shitake, when consumed regularly was shown in a study to decrease cholesterol levels by 7% to 12%. Dried mushrooms takes a longer time to prepare. Usually used in soups and flavorful.

Sea vegetables mostly in the form of seaweeds. A study showed very low breast cancer rates among women living of a Japanese island whose regular diet included kombu ( a seaweed), which is harvested there for domestic and world distribution. Sea weeds help with thyroid prevention and hypertension.

The recommended serving of vegetable in most food guides is 5 to 6 servings a day. So with your normal size dinner plate - half of the plate should be filled with vegetables, the other half divided into 2 with one side for your bread/rice/pasta and the other with your protein. In order to get the maximum effect of these vegetables, Do Not overcook them or deep fry them. If you need any simple recipes, please contact me.

Energy:-Healing Energy with Berries

There are so many different berries and many of them prefer the temperate climate. So when I was growing up in South East Asia, I only saw strawberries and the other berries in picture except for cherries, which were 1/2 the size than the ones found in the West. My grandmother had a cherry tree which attracted many birds.

Berries, like the ones we know of are botanically considered false berries. The real berries are grapes, currants and gooseberry.
Before we continue with berries or false berries, there are rambutans in South East Asia, which is a seasonal fruit found in South East Asia, very sweet with a texture like lycee. The roots, leaves and bark of the rambutan tree is used for wound healing and for eye infection. Here is what rambutans look like.
Rambutan :- Rambut means Hairy in Malay

Blueberry, Raspberry and Blackberry
There are about 200 species of berries in Canada, some are not edible and even poisonous. So be cautious when you are picking wild berries in the woods. There are some that might look like blueberries or red currants which are poisonous.
Blueberries have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Blueberries are also recommended to prevent macular degeneration and wrinkles. The wild blueberries are tinier than the cultivated ones. Saskatoon berries resemble blueberries.
Raspberry and blackberry also have anti-cancer properties according to the American Cancer Institute.

Wolfberry or Gogi berry
Gogi berry is getting a reputation as the anti-aging berry. It's or1gin is in the Himalayas and Tibet but as a fellow blogger, Dora (www.bricorefamily.com) tells me she has some growing on her farm in the US. Some effects of gogi berry which is full of minerals, protein and vitamins are the following -
1.calms nervousness and enhances memory
2.an anti-inflammatory
3.lowers blood pressure and keeps heart healthy,
4.Strengthens the immune system.
Apparently there is a Tibetan saying that eating gogi berries in the morning makes you happy the entire day. So daily dose of gogi will make you a smiling person. Gogi can be obtained dried in Health Food Stores and can be eaten with your breakfast cereal, or mixed with other dried fruits and nuts as a snack.
